The Lunar NewyYear is a big thing for Taiwanese people. On the eve of Lunar New Year, we gather around the table to eat dinner and place spring couplets on the door. Most importantly, all family members, wherever they live in, have a reunion at this moment.

This year, my mom intends to order food from the restaurant because it costs much time and effort to prepare all the table meals. The other reason is that my mom always cooks so much that we eat leftovers almost the whole week after the eve ends. How terrible the experience is.

Fortunately, we have nine days-off this time, and some friends like to travel abroad to avoid the greetings of their relatives. For example, the relatives ask questions such as, “How old are you?”, “Are you married?”, “Why don’t you get married?” They are annoying.  I am 31 years old; however, my family and I don’t make a travel plan. The reason is that my dad doesn’t like the whole family to take the airplane. In his opinion, that is dangerous because the plane crashes always happen. Before traveling, we observe if the weather is good or bad and then decide where we go.

According to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB), the temperature on New Year's Eve will drop further to 10 degrees in the north, while other areas will also their lowest temperatures of the week that day, reaching 11 degrees in the northeast, 12 degrees in central Taiwan, and 13 degrees in the south and the east.

The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) also has forecast dry and cold weather for Lunar New Year's Eve on February 7, with temperatures likely to drop to 10 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan. Taiwan will be under the influence of two continental cold air masses beginning Monday. Meanwhile, as clouds and rain from southern China move east, the bureau forecast a 90 percent chance of rain in Yilan on Monday. That sounds bad because it's my hometown. I hope the weather becomes better after Monday.
