Traditional markets and night markets are the places worthwhile to visit in Taiwan. They exist everywhere. You can easily find one of them, because it's part of Taiwanese lifestyle. The place is full of energy wherein you will feel more power when you go through it.

People who live in Taiwan usually prefer a traditional market than a supermarket because of its price. In my opinion, the first reason is that many vendors sell their crops without the exploit from the mid suppliers, so the price is cheaper than the supermarket. Second, all kinds of vegetables and meat can be found there; besides, if you are so hungry, you can also find cooked food right away. Third, you can meet different kinds of people and realize how they live. Furthermore, it's better for you to experience it, as if you also live here.

As for night markets, I regard them as magical food platforms. Every vendor is like a magician going to the whole nine yards in a small space. In particular, every night market has its specialty. For example, Luodong night market is famous for heart tapioca and peanut ice cream roll; Raohe St. Night Market is popular with pepper cakes and ribs stewed in medicine herbs; and Shilin Night Market, the biggest one, the most known one for foreigners. Trying local dishes from any corner of the country is a must, so singers and movie stars who come to Taiwan for work love to look for local dishes after finishing their jobs.

As far as I am concerned, the varieties of food represent the abundance of my culture, so I am proud of my country because of its booming agriculture and cuisines. As the world advances and becoming more modern, I sincerely hope that we can keep this lifestyle and go on and on. So to the travelers and tourists out there, throw away the travel guidebook, and wander around the streets in any city, I promise you will love this land and appreciate its beauty.
